About this activity

Take a moment to consider how often we ask for things in our daily lives. An awful lot, right? Expert “asker” Michael Roderick says, “If you can ask questions in the right way, you can get anything you want.” This workshop will introduce you to the psychology of asking and how to ask effectively. Participants will identify what is holding them back in getting what they want, eliminate nerves, and connect with people in an instant!

About Michael

Michael Roderick is the founder of Small Pond Enterprises, a company that works at the intersection of relationship building and thought leadership. He helps thoughtful givers become thought leaders through the same methodology he used to go from being a high school English teacher to a Broadway producer in under two years.

Michael is also the founder of ConnectorCon, a conference for connectors as well as the Co-Host of the Podcast Access to Anyone. While Michael technically has a system, it's so lightweight and practical that you don't need to program software or anything like that to make it work. You can actually keep it all in your head and that's really helpful if you're at a conference with thousands of people and your phone or laptop dies. The "system" still works! 3 years later, all business is still by invitation and referral only! One day we'll get around to advertising when we're not too busy.

What to expect

Throughout the workshop participants will be engaging with one another and sharpening the ax of these new skills so everyone leaves with tools they can use.

  1. AWARENESS OF SELF
    Do evaluations to help each participant identify their relationship to asking. This is will help everyone see who is comfortable with it and who is not.
  2. AWARENESS OF OTHERS
    Identify the main concerns of clients and learn an index everyone can use to identify the largest pain points of others easily.
  3. ACTIONS IN ASKING
    Discuss and practice techniques to ask/follow-up. Participants will dig into the biological and psychological issues that come up during an “ask” and practice ways to ask differently.
