OVERVIEW

WHAT TO EXPECT

  1. INTRO AND “MUTILATION”
Bethany explains the ins and outs of erasure. Then all attendees jump straight into a warm-up exercise by ripping, folding, and slapping paint on provided texts.
  2. PARTNER EXERCISE
Each partner receives the same source text, but with differing instructions on how to erase it – then they compare!
  3. EMBARRASSING MOMENT
Embarrassing moments are written down anonymously on notecards. Each participant chooses a card at random, then “erases” its text to create new stories.
  4. FREE SOLO
Each attendee chooses their own source texts and writes their own erasures.
  5. SHARING AND REFLECTIONS
Participants have the option to share their poems and their takeaways with the group.

REQUIREMENTS

Required from you: tables for people to sit at. Bethany will provide materials, but you can also bring your own specific texts you would like to use.
